I managed to get to London to the South African embassy on Monday 18th of August, and after a 2 hour wait I eventually was seen and told that I was missing a few things in the application and sent away to get them and told I needed to come back another time with a completed application, So that was pretty much a completely wasted trip to London which was frustrating.
I did what they said and got what they said I needed to complete my visa application and on the Friday of the same week I travelled back to London. This time I got there earlier (8:00 instead of 9:00) and was seen in half an hour. They accepted my application and said they would email me updates and gave me a collection date for my visa, all well and good appart from the collection date is on the 25th of September... 5 days AFTER I am supposed to leave the UK for South Africa.
So now I am in the process of ringing Virgin to see if I can move my flights to a week later, well at least the visa should be sorted and I don't have to worry about handing it.
Less than a month to go now and with the last of my vaccinations a little over 2 weeks away I am starting to get excited and nervous about leaving. I have been told that I will be conducting research on a habituated troop of baboons following their behaviour, I really can't wait to get stuck in... not long now
